La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week announced a setback on the personnel front in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation that Álvaro Carreras is set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Stopper Carreras for his part missed out last Friday, as Real Madrid secured a return to winning ways at the expense of Celta Vigo.
As much came owing to a one-match La Liga suspension.
The hope, in turn, was that Carreras would be back available to face Manchester City in the Champions League this week.
As alluded to above, however, this will not be the case.
As per a statement across Los Blancos’ website and social media platforms on Monday, the former Benfica man has picked up a calf injury:
‘After the tests carried out on our player Álvaro Carreras by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the calf of his right leg. Pending evolution.’
