La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to go head-to-head with Arsenal for the signing of Vitor Reis.
Reis, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old central defender, who is currently plying his trade with Palmerias.
The stopper has long been held in high regard in his home country, as evidenced by his status as a regular in the Brazilian youth team setups.
He has broken onto the first-team picture at Palmeiras in 2024, with his composed performances to date having begun to pique attentions across Europe.
One such club keen, it is understood, are Real Madrid, who all of a sudden are on the lookout for reinforcements at the heart of defence.
After seeing the club’s central defensive options reduced ever further by way of youngster Joan Martínez’s ACL tear, Reis has been earmarked as a leading target to replace the Spaniard.
In their pursuit of the Brazilian, however, Los Blancos look set to face competition from another of the continent’s leading clubs.
As per a report from Mario Cortegana of The Athletic:
‘Real Madrid and Arsenal are among a host of top clubs who have shown interest in signing Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Reis.’
Both sides have already gone as far as to make contact with Palmeiras and Reis’ camp alike, in an early effort to beat out the mounting competition for his signature.
