Real Madrid have asked UEFA to restart disciplinary proceedings in the Negreira case after submitting a letter and accusing Barcelona of corruption.
In a statement, the club said it holds new documents concerning payments made by Barcelona to former refereeing official José María Enríquez Negreira.
The material is presented as supporting the existence of long-running payments to the former vice president of Spain’s referees’ technical committee, routed through several corporate entities.
Between 2001 and 2018, Barcelona are said to have paid more than 7.3 million euros to companies linked to Negreira.
Madrid are seeking a firm response from UEFA and call it unacceptable that the situation has persisted, warning it seriously undermines the credibility of football, its institutions and its leaders.
The statement denounces what it describes as an undue influence structure over the refereeing body, incompatible with competitive equality, neutrality, impartiality and the unpredictability of sporting outcomes.
It adds that Real Madrid do not intend to replace the role of state courts and will continue to act so conduct of this kind does not go unpunished.
