The controversy is heating up in Spain following the incident that occurred during Real Madrid vs Getafe CF (0-1). At the center of the debate is Antonio Rüdiger's action on Diego Rico, which went unpunished. The Getafe defender, who was struck and left on the ground, shared his version of events with Cadena COPE.

"If he had caught me badly, I might not have gotten up. If it had been the other way around, I would have been handed a 10-match ban or wouldn’t have played the rest of the season. I don’t know what the VAR is for. I think it’s there for these situations. This is an assault, you can see he’s coming to hit me on purpose," he said.

Rico continued: "In the previous action, we had an altercation, the referee blows for a foul and, as he heads back to defend, he says things. Right after, the ball comes to me and you can see he even pushes his teammate aside to take a shot at me."

Despite these accusations, no disciplinary decision has yet been announced.
