Real Madrid’s objective this summer is clearly to strengthen the areas where they lacked last season and a lot has changed already less than a month after the end of the season.
While the board look to bring in new stars, equal attention is being maintained on existing stalwarts who have done enough to prove they are worthy of betting on in the longer run.
Thibaut Courtois, on that front, is one player whose renewal at the club has been long pending and Florentino Perez and Co. are all hands on deck to tie the Belgian veteran down to the club.
As relayed by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are set to advance and proceed with Courtois’ new deal next month.
After all, the goalkeeper was sensational for Real Madrid even last season, as has been the norm for a long time now.
There is still a year left on the veteran’s contract at the club, but Real Madrid are satisfied with his level and see no reason to wait longer before they pull the trigger. After all, he is one of the most important players in their setup.

An agreement between the two parties, thus, is just around the corner and all signs indicate that Courtois will prolong his stay at Real Madrid officially this summer.
The duration of his new contract remains uncertain, although previous reports talk of a two-year deal.
Last season, the 33-year-old made 30 league appearances for Real Madrid and recovered from his ACL blow as if he never suffered a setback at all.
In that duration, he racked up 11 clean sheets and averaged 2.6 saves per game with an accuracy of 73%.
He may be 33, but Courtois has shown no signs of slowing down. Given the usual trajectory for goalkeepers, he may well be the primary option in the department for at least a couple more seasons.
