Real Madrid have resolved the dressing-room row between Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouaméni, handing each a €500,000 fine. The club said in a statement that the case was closed on Friday and that both players had expressed remorse for this week’s clashes, the latest of which left the Uruguayan with a head injury.
Following talks with the case instructor, there is no sporting sanction for either player. As a result, the French midfielder is available to face Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday.
Álvaro Arbeloa will be without Valverde, with head injury protocol prescribing between 10 and 14 days of rest.
The pair clashed during Wednesday’s training, with Valverde making strong challenges on Tchouaméni.
Tension continued into Thursday’s session and, after a heated exchange in the dressing room, Valverde fell and struck his head on a table. He suffered a cut to his forehead, was stitched by club medics, then taken to hospital.
