There has been a clear change in mood around Vinicius Jr. in recent weeks, and it now appears that his future at Real Madrid is heading in a completely different direction.

According to a recent report from SPORT, it has come to light that Vinicius Jr. would be close to reaching an agreement with Real Madrid over a contract renewal after recent turn of events.

The turning point seems to be linked directly to the managerial situation. 

The atmosphere around the Brazilian forward has shifted since Xabi Alonso’s departure, and it has had a visible impact on his performances and attitude on the pitch. 

As the report explains, Alonso’s departure gave wings to the winger, who seems to have regained his smile and aim on the pitch.

Major shift

This detail is not minor. For months, there were strong doubts about whether Vinicius would commit to the club for the long term. 

The relationship between the player’s camp and the previous coaching setup was not progressing in a way that encouraged renewal talks.

Precisely, the dismissal of the former coach is one of the key reasons that has unlocked another section that seemed entrenched outside of football. 

Vinicius was far from renewing with Alonso on the bench. However, now with Alvaro Arbeloa, things are very different, and the first information suggests that the signing could be very close.

As of today, negotiations have gathered pace. In recent days, positions have been approaching between the player’s representatives and Real Madrid, which was unthinkable a few months ago. 

The finances

One of the biggest obstacles was financial. The player wanted a salary closer to Kylian Mbappe’s level, but Real Madrid were cautious about disturbing their wage balance. 

Now, however, a middle ground appears to have been found. Madrid reportedly want to keep the fixed salary structure intact while increasing his earnings through realistic performance bonuses, a formula that has satisfied the player’s entourage.

If the final details are completed, Vinicius’ commitment could be extended until 2030, with the option of an additional year.
