The football world has grown increasingly aware of the medical condition called pubalgia in recent months with several of the sport’s top young names suffering from the same setback.

Not a traditional muscular sprain or ligament tear, the chronic painful condition of the pubis is common in young stars who are agile and burst with pace on the field.

While Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams are some of La Liga’s big stars affected by it, Real Madrid’s Franco Mastantuono was the latest on the list and has been sidelined for a while now.

Recovery on the horizon

As relayed in a recent report by The Athletic, Real Madrid are trying to carefully control the teenage gem’s pubalgia and help the pain subside. The player, for his part, is working hard towards the same.

Mastantuono was initially expected to be still unavailable for well over a month, but he could now be ready to feature before the end of December as matters stand and one can expect him back in full-flow for the start of the new calendar year.

The 18-year-old new Real Madrid signing is thus ruled out for the weekend’s clash against Elche after the international break and is also a doubt for the games against Olympiacos, Girona, Athletic Club, Celta Vigo, and likely Manchester City.

Mastantuono has been out of action since the team’s 4-0 win over Valencia early this month and will thus likely feature in the second half of next month.

Given the nature of his injury, however, it is vital that Xabi Alonso and Co. work out a means to balance his minutes and ensure he does not strain himself into a relapse. Management, after all, is key until complete recovery.
