For the longest time, it appeared Julian Alvarez will either move to Barcelona this summer or remain at Atletico Madrid.

But another layer has been added to the transfer saga this week, with Real Madrid reportedly eyeing a shock move for the Argentine international.

Multiple outlets are claiming that Alvarez is the mystery player Florentino Perez was talking about when he promised a €150 million signing this summer.

According to Gianluigi Longari, Real Madrid have an offer worth €150 million ready for Atletico Madrid, as they make an attempt to sign Julian Alvarez.

This is a significant development considering Real Madrid were not even a contender to sign the Argentine international just two weeks ago.

Now, the tables appear to have changed, with various reports also claiming that Atletico Madrid now see Real Madrid as their main enemy, as they look to keep hold of Alvarez.

It is apparent that Barcelona are not in a position to compete with Real Madrid financially and certainly not capable of tabling an offer worth €150 million.

However, the Catalans do have an advantage as far as the player himself is concerned. Longari suggests Alvarez is still favouring a move to Barça despite interest from Real Madrid.

It is no secret that the former Manchester City starlet has been gunning for a move to Camp Nou for a while now. Keeping that in mind, it won’t be surprising to see him wait for Barcelona before taking a decision on his future.

However, time is running out and Barça must soon figure things out if they are to launch an official bid for Alvarez. For now, Alvarez’s desire to play in Camp Nou is the only silver lining.
