In a recent report, Fichajes revealed that Real Madrid have identified Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton as a target. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the English talent to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next year.
Wharton is having a decent campaign at the London club as he has put in a string of impressive performances at the heart of their midfield. The English midfield ace has played in ten matches for the Eagles this season, securing one assist in all competitions.
The 21-year-old has anchored the midfield well for Crystal Palace and deserves credit for making six tackles, five blocks, six interceptions and five clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball well from inside his half after completing 78.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).
His current deal at Selhurst Park will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Real Madrid to sign him on the cheap next year.

Wharton is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a decent passer of the ball as well.
The English sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Los Blancos manage to snap him up next year.
We can expect Wharton to add more quality and depth to Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He has what it takes to challenge for regular first-team football at the Madrid club in the coming seasons.
At 21, Wharton has got the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, Alonso would be wise to get a deal done for him this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Real Madrid have to be patient with his progress before they can get the best out of Wharton.
