Real Madrid could intensify their efforts to sign Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool and Madrid have both been linked with a move for Olise, although prising him away from Bayern appears extremely unlikely.
Olise caught the eye during Bayern’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old winger has been exceptional for Bayern this season, taking his game to another level under Vincent Kompany.
The Frenchman has registered 16 goals and 24 assists across all competitions, underlining his immense influence, and it comes as no surprise that Real Madrid have developed a strong interest in him.
Olise started at the Santiago Bernabéu and delivered a virtuoso performance, providing the assist for Harry Kane’s goal.
On the night, he outshone both Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe, giving the Madrid hierarchy a close look at his quality.
My sources have confirmed that Florentino Perez is keen to pursue a deal for Olise this summer, and after witnessing this level of performance, Madrid are even more determined to step up their efforts to bring him to the Bernabéu.
Madrid are thinking of a €160m-165m [£137.9m-142.2m] offer for Olise, but Bayern are under pressure to sell him as the Frenchman has no release clause in his contract.
The Bavarian giants have made it clear that they will not sell their prized asset even if they receive an offer in the region of €200m.
“In Germany, we’ve also heard about the rumours of Liverpool coming to the table with a €200m [£172.9m] bid for Michael Olise.
“I can tell you that I’ve talked with the bosses of Bayern Munich, I talked with Max Eberl, the head of sport, and he said: No chance! Michael Olise is not for sale. He’s the future of Bayern Munich.
“Even if there is an offer of €100m-200m [£86.4m-172.9m] on the table, Bayern won’t even discuss it. They want to give him a new contract. Eberl also reiterated that Olise doesn’t have a release clause. So, Bayern are in the driver’s seat.”
