Recent weeks have seen Real Madrid linked with a plethora of journalists, and while there have been many reliable inputs, some outlets have utilised the mayhem to push through fabricated stories.

One such bizarre update in recent days was by the famous Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon who stated that Real Madrid were still working on Jurgen Klopp as a priority target to take over.

He even went a step further, claiming that Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos was helping the club in the negotiations to see the German coach arrive in Madrid.

Kroos calls out the journalist

Taking to his official X account recently, Toni Kroos lashed out against the Diario AS-based journalist, calling his information full of ‘lies.’

“Spreading false information, whether invented or from poorly informed sources, is simply bad journalism,” he began.

He then demanded better journalism standards and verification of information to prevent untrue rumours from spreading.

“And there’s already enough of that. Especially when it comes to information that generates expectations in fans, it would be good to get it right at least from time to time.”

No Klopp for Real Madrid

Indeed as claimed by Kroos, there was no truth to the news of Jurgen Klopp being brokered into a deal to join Real Madrid, and the club are now close to their official appointment.

It is Jose Mourinho, as matters stand, who is the best placed to replace Alvaro Arbeloa in June and the club are very close to securing an agreement with the Portuguese manager.

In fact, all that remains is for Mourinho and Florentino Perez to meet next week, shake hands, and put pen to paper. It is only a matter of time before the official announcement arrives.
