Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo has on Tuesday secured for himself yet another piece of football history.

This comes owing to the 40-year-old’s latest endeavours on the international front.

Ronaldo marked his return to action a short time ago, in Portugal’s World Cup qualifying meeting with Hungary.

When all was said and done on something of a disappointing evening for Robert Martínez’s troops, they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils. As much came owing to a late Hungarian equaliser.

For Portugal’s star man, though, it proved another altogether productive outing in front of goal.

Ronaldo was responsible for both of his country’s goals in Lisbon, netted midway through the first-half, and on the stroke of the interval.

And as alluded to above, owing to as much, the Al-Nassr frontman made fresh history.

As revealed by statistician ‘MisterChip’ on ‘X’:

‘Cristiano Ronaldo (40) surpasses the Guatemalan Carlos “Pescadito” Ruiz (39) and becomes the all-time leading scorer in the ENTIRE history of the World Cup Qualifiers.’
