Real Madrid lose top spot after third 1-1 draw, Barça lead

For Matchday 14 of the 2025-26 LaLiga season, Real Madrid drew 1-1 on their visit to Girona. With this draw, Los Merengues lost the top spot in the standings after Barcelona’s victory over Alavés on Saturday.

In a complex match, the home team took the lead thanks to a goal by Azzedine Ounahi in the 45th minute of the first half. Then, in the second half, the team led by Xabi Alonso managed to equalize in the 67th minute with a penalty goal from Kylian Mbappé.

This is the third consecutive draw for Los Blancos, following 0-0 and 2-2 draws against Rayo Vallecano and Elche, respectively. Additionally, they have only one win in their last five matches, that being in the UEFA Champions League against Olympiacos of Greece, where they won 4-3.
