There is no escaping the reality for Real Madrid, as the defeat against Mallorca has forced a moment of reflection at the worst possible time.

But with a defining UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on the horizon, the focus has shifted from frustration to response.

Real Madrid must realise that while the past cannot be changed, the reaction can. And that reaction begins with team selection.

As per Defensa Central, manager Alvaro Arbeloa appears ready to take decisive action.

Rather than sticking with familiar patterns, the Spaniard is expected to make calculated adjustments, not just in personnel, but in approach and intent.

In goal, Andriy Lunin is set to continue as the first choice in Thibaut Courtois’ absence.

The defensive structure in front of him could see a refreshed dynamic, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras offering width, while Antonio Rudiger and Dean Huijsen provide physical presence centrally.

The real shift, however, may come in midfield. Aurelien Tchouameni is expected to take on the responsibility of anchoring the side, but around him, there could be a greater emphasis on energy and directness.

Federico Valverde remains key for balance, while Arda Guler adds creativity in tighter spaces. Lastly, Thiago Pitarch will return to the lineup.

Up front, the plan is clear and uncompromising, with Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe carrying the attacking burden.

What stands out most is not just who starts, but who doesn’t.

Eduardo Camavinga, Brahim Diaz, and Manuel Angel, who started against Mallorca, are all expected to begin on the bench.

As reported before, within the squad, there has been a strong sense of accountability after the Mallorca defeat.

Players are aware that lapses in concentration, questionable decisions, and lack of intensity have cost them dearly in recent matches, and against Bayern, such margins simply should not exist.
