Real Madrid manager’s future will not be decided solely based on the team’s upcoming results – report | OneFootball

There is a dark cloud looming around the future of Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid, especially after how the team have gone on a serious tilt and appear to be struggling across all competitions.

The initial idea was that the manager’s future would depend on the result of Real Madrid’s game against Manchester City, but the administration persisted with him despite the team losing.

As it stands, there is word that the game against Deportivo Alaves later today will be decisive for Alonso’s future with a defeat reportedly being enough for the administration to fire him.

As relayed in a recent report by Diario AS, Alonso’s future at Real Madrid is not dependent on the team’s results in the coming games. Neither the clash against Alaves, Talavera, nor Sevilla will be an ultimatum.

Instead, the administration see it to be a matter of seeing positive sensations in the dressing room and a radical change on the field – not only in terms of results but also in the attitude and performance.

Every game of the team will be treated as an exam with the club diving deep into the evaluation of performances on an individual and collective level that will determine if Alonso is the right man for the job.

The final decision over the manager’s continuity, thus, will not be taken solely on the basis of the number of wins and defeats in the three upcoming games but on an analysis and well-drawn conclusions from the same.

Needless to say, the news leaves Xabi Alonso’s future in a far bigger cloud than before, for now there is no sense of guarantee of his continuity even if the team wins.

What the development also means, however, is that a defeat later today may not be enough to sack him from the team put up a spirited show and fight. Given the pressure at Real Madrid and the general expectation, however, the results will undoubtedly play a role.
