In the wake of Real Madrid’s first training session in preparation for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup semifinal against PSG, Aurelien Tchouameni spoke to the club’s official media.
The midfielder talked about facing PSG and the threat they can possess. He also talked about Xabi Alonso and his preferred position in the team.
After a win over Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals, Real Madrid are set to face PSG in the semis.
Speaking ahead of this clash, Tchouameni said, “We’re working very well to prepare for the PSG match. We’re very happy to be in the semi-finals, but we want more.“
Tchouameni has played a vital role in the Real Madrid starting XI so far in this competition, notably racking up 445 minutes across five matches.
The Frenchman has largely switched back and forth between a centre-back and a defensive midfield positon.
Nevertheless, having already faced PSG multiple times in his career, Tchoaumeni is determined to win.
“We have to win the match against PSG, and we’re going to give it our all, fight to win and stay in the competition,” he said.

“PSG is a good team, with many players I know personally. They’re a top team in world football; they’ve won the Champions League. It’s going to be a tough match, but we have the quality to win it, and we have to prove it,” he added.
Tchouameni was also asked about new coach Xabi Alonso and the impact he has had on the team so far.
The French international admitted that the team is understanding his philosophy more and more with each passing day.
“Day by day, we understand more and more what the coach and his staff want. In every game, we’re improving on and off the field. We have to keep working and improving,” he said.
Talking about his preferred position in the Real Madrid team, the former AS Monaco starlet pointed out central midfield.
“The central midfield position is very important because we have to anticipate what’s going to happen. My job is to adapt; it depends on the conditions of each match and the opponent’s play,” he concluded.
