Federico Valverde is one of Real Madrid’s midfield mainstays, and rightfully so given the sheer dedication he shows to the crest every time he takes to the field.

Over the years, the player has earned serious praise from his managers for both club and country, and Xabi Alonso is the latest on the list of coaches pleased with his attitude.

After playing a pivotal role for the men in white, he now heads over to link up with the Uruguayan national team to help them seal qualification for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

His team need just one more point to get there, and they will look to secure that point in one of the two games they are set to play.

Eager to qualify

Speaking to the media during his travel to join the national team, the Uruguayan star revealed how he hoped to secure qualification at the earliest and how he was excited for the games ahead.

“As several teammates have said, eager to be able to qualify in this first match and be able to enjoy with the people.”

“We have to be focused on what we want and enjoy the moment.

The player was then asked about his feelings at the club level and how he saw his role at Real Madrid.

“Proud of what I am achieving at Real Madrid, happy with the moment I am living, enjoying every minute I have to play with the Real Madrid shirt.”

Speaking further, the interview then twisted towards Xabi Alonso and the new philosophy the manager brought to Real Madrid, to which the player responded with serious praise.

“I think he could play with us if he wanted to. He is another different coach. I try to get the most fruit from him, like Bielsa when it’s my turn to come to Uruguay.”

“They are unique coaches that one tries to learn and get the most out of each training and listen to every advice they give you,” he added.

Thoughts on Ancelotti

Finally, the midfield maestro was asked how it felt being praised first by Carlo Ancelotti and now by Alonso for his warrior spirit and contributions on the field.

“A lot of pride, it has to help me to continue improving, to continue growing.

I never imagined being in the place where I am, I have worked a lot, one dreams of it and sometimes sees it as very unattainable.”

“But hearing every coach I’ve had speak well of one, fills me with pride and motivates me to continue growing as a person and as a player,” he concluded.
