Real Madrid’s recent 6-3 aggregate win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League knockout playoffs was an important one for various parties involved.

For Carlo Ancelotti, the win helped him retain trust of the board. For Kylian Mbappe, the hat-trick should go a long way in boosting his confidence heading into the final phase of the campaign.

But for club as a whole, the win over Man City could bring in an additional revenue of around €11 million.

The economic boost from the Man City win

Indeed, as reported by SPORT, Real Madrid have made an additional €11 million just by securing a berth in the Round of 16 stage by beating Man City.

This takes the club’s total earnings from the Champions League this season to €49.7 million, €18.62 of which have come from simply participating in the UCL.

Real Madrid also secured €10.5 million for five wins, and additional amounts for their ranking and play-off qualification.

A tally of €49.7 million means Real Madrid are currently tenth when it comes to most revenue generated from the Champions League this season.

Liverpool sit atop the standings with a revenue generation of €56.8 million while Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona have earned €55.1 million – second in the standings.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid will end up becoming the highest earner if they can replicate their success from last season.

If they progress further, Real Madrid will earn €12.5 million for reaching the quarter-finals. Making it to the semi-finals would add another €15 million, while qualifying for the final would bring in €18.5 million.

Lifting the trophy would grant them an additional €6.5 million, plus €4 million for securing a spot in the UEFA Super Cup.

In total, Real Madrid has the potential to exceed €100 million in earnings from the Champions League this season.

Given their past campaigns, such as the €133.7 million revenue haul in 2021-22, the club remains well-positioned to maximize their financial gain
