According to Medric Bouzermane of Le Journal du Real, the contract renewal saga between Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid has hit a stalemate, primarily due to the forward’s financial demands.
The journalist mentions that the Brazilian’s representatives are pushing for a fixed annual salary between €20 million and €25 million, significantly higher than his current fixed income of €15 million, and are also asking for a renewal bonus of €20 million.
Real Madrid, while eager to secure Vinicius’ long-term future, are not willing to meet every aspect of these requests without adjustments.
Negotiations have been ongoing for several months, but as of today, there has been no breakthrough, even though the player has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid’s hesitation largely stems from its strict internal wage structure. They maintain a well-balanced salary hierarchy, with top earners earning within a defined range.
Club executives fear that exceeding this limit for Vinicius could disrupt the financial equilibrium of the dressing room.

At present, Vinicius’ salary package consists of two components – a fixed amount of €15 million and performance-based bonuses that bring his total potential earnings to between €20 million and €25 million per year.
However, his agents are insisting that these bonuses be converted into a guaranteed base salary, ensuring that the winger earns the full amount regardless of performance metrics.
Adding to this, the player’s camp is seeking a €20 million signing bonus upon renewal. These two key issues have caused the negotiations to slow down considerably.
Despite the tension, the club remains open to compromise. According to the report, Real Madrid are willing to make a financial effort to keep their star, but they have also made it clear that Vinicius must tone down certain demands.
The club has emphasised that before any final agreement, the 25-year-old must continue performing at a higher level than what he displayed during the 2024–25 season.
In recent weeks, however, Vinicius has begun to regain top form, rediscovering his sharpness alongside Kylian Mbappe and Franco Mastantuono.
