Real Madrid reach agreement to sign Ibrahima Konaté

Real Madrid are close to completing the free signing of defender Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool according to reports.

The Reds confirmed that Konaté would leave this summer on the expiry of his contract after the two sides were unable to agree on a new deal.

Various destinations had been touted for the 27-year-old, including a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

However, Konaté looks set to move to Madrid with multiple reports suggesting the French international has agreed a four-year deal though that may be dependent on the outcome of the club's presidential elections and whether or not Florentino Pérez remains in charge.

Konaté first joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 and played 183 times for the club in total, chipping in with seven goals from defence.
