Real Madrid reach out to star winger for explanations over recent social media activity | OneFootball

Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr has not been going through a great period in recent months. In fact, he has been poor ever since the Ballon d’Or debacle last season and it is unclear if the two are related merely by correlation or causation.

Regardless of the origin of his struggles, the player has been far from his best in the Real Madrid colours for a while now and has continued to be below his usual standards in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.

Needless to say, the developments have brought the player under pressure and intense criticism with many even calling for his departure from the club.

The social media dagger

Earlier this week, a series of surprising developments took over on Vinicius’ Instagram as the account first unpinned both posts of the player with the UEFA Champions League. Further, the words ‘Real Madrid’ even disappeared from his bio.

As relayed by SPORT now, the Real Madrid administration were puzzled by the developments and did not understand why the player’s social media profile saw such drastic changes.

Now, the club even personally reached out to Vinicius’ entourage to check what was happening and his environment responded that the player had no part to play and it was in fact his social media agency that made the decision to take the steps taken.

Needless to say, this comes against the speculation that the Brazilian took it down in light of the criticism he was facing and the campaign of hate that was directed towards him in recent weeks.

Regardless of the reason, the player’s profile once again has a photo of him with the Real Madrid shirt although the unpinned posts have not been pinned back, nor has the title of Real Madrid returned to his bio.

It thus remains to be seen if there is anything deeper brewing in his story, even though for a while it has been suggested that the winger was set to sign a new contract with the club.
