Real Madrid have received a timely boost ahead of their Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid, although uncertainty still surrounds one of their biggest stars.

According to a report from Cadena SER, defender Dean Huijsen has fully recovered from his injury and is now training normally with the group.

Huijsen’s return comes as welcome news for head coach Xabi Alonso, who will now have another defensive option available for the crucial clash.

The young centre-back completed the entire training session alongside his teammates, indicating that he is fit and ready to be considered for selection.

What about Mbappe?

As such, the same cannot yet be said for Kylian Mbappe, whose situation remains unresolved.

The French forward did not train with the group and instead worked indoors as he continues his recovery from a sprain.

A final decision on his availability will be taken after tomorrow morning’s training session, just before the squad travels to Jeddah for the Super Cup.

The latest medical update leaves Real Madrid with a mix of optimism and caution. While Huijsen’s recovery strengthens the squad, Mbappe’s condition remains a major doubt.

At this stage, his participation in the semi-final appears highly unlikely, and even if Madrid were to progress to the final, his involvement would still not be guaranteed.

Meanwhile, Eder Militao and Trent Alexander-Arnold continue their recovery programmes away from the main group, working individually as they edge closer to full fitness.

It is said that Mbappe’s situation will become clearer after the final training session.

Only then will the player, the medical staff, and Alonso collectively decide whether he will travel with the team to Saudi Arabia.

For now, Madrid are preparing as if they will have to face Atletico Madrid without their star forward, focusing instead on collective strength and squad depth.
