Real Madrid are actively monitoring the market for potential defensive reinforcements for the summer of 2026.

With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger facing an uncertain future at the Bernabeu, the club want to bring in fresh faces who can compete with the likes of Dean Huijsen, Eder Militao and Raul Asencio.

Real Madrid have already been linked with moves for Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate, but the club abandoned the pursuit of both players.

The club have moved on to newer targets such as Stade Rennais’ fresh defensive prospect, Jeremy Jacquet. It was reported at the end of last month that Real Madrid are among the clubs closely tracking the progress of the young Frenchman.

Kylian Mbappe approves Jacquet move

In a fresh development, it appears Real Madrid’s French star Kylian Mbappe himself has approved the club’s interest in Jeremy Jacquet, reports Defensa Central.

The star striker believes Real Madrid’s potential €30 million investment in the 20-year-old defender, who has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence.

Jacquet is rated highly by Real Madrid as well, particularly because of his impressive physique. The young Frenchman, after all, stands at 1.90m, making him a daunting presence for any striker.

Not to mention, Jacquet has shown impressive maturity at just 20 and has already featured in over 30 competitive matches for Stade Rennais.

Real Madrid’s prospects of signing Jacquet could be aided by the fact that the club have done business with Rennes in the past, notably signing Eduardo Camavinga.

However, whether or not Jacquet’s limited exposure to top-flight football makes him a more attractive option over other accomplished targets such as Marc Guehi and Nico Schlotterbeck remains to be seen.
