Real Madrid appear determined to keep hold of Rodrygo Goes in 2026 despite intense speculation over his place.

The Brazil international has admitted to struggling for form and confidence in the final weeks of last season prior to Carlo Ancelotti’s exit at the end of the campaign.

After Los Blancos bowed out of the FIFA Club World Cup at the semi final stage, following a 4-0 humbling at the hands of UEFA Champions League winners PSG, Rodrygo’s future came into sharp focus.

Alonso consistently rejected rumours of the club looking to sell their No.11 with the potential for a €100m offer landing from the Premier League.

Rodrygo had been open to offers in the summer, although his stance changed as the transfer deadline approached at the start of September. That could have been tested by Paris Saint-Germain, as Fabrizio Romano (via MD) revealed the defending European champions had lined up a move for the Brazilian.

The situation has settled for the next few months at least, but if he continues to remain on the fringes of Alonso’s plans, there is a chance he does move on in 2026. Manchester City are set to retain their interest in his services and that could be revived from January.

Bayern Munich could also re-enter the race with reports from Marca claiming Real Madrid immediately rejected an offer from the Bavarians over the summer.

The update claims an ‘intermediary and agent were dispatched to approach Real Madrid’ to assess their willingness to discuss a deal.

The travelling party were swiftly told there was no chance of a deal in the final days of August, as Alonso wants to stay open minded over Rodrygo, but the situation is far from over.

From seven La Liga games so far in 2025/26, Rodrygo has started just one with four substitute appearances, and no goals scored.
