Real Madrid request postponement of opening La Liga fixture | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid have made contact with Spanish football’s schedule makers, to request the postponement of the club’s opening fixture for next season.

That’s according to Carrusel Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.

Those behind the scenes at Real Madrid, it is understood, are extremely worried when it comes to the wellbeing of their first-team squad moving forward.

Still going strong at the Club World Cup, and potentially with two more fixtures to play, Xabi Alonso’s troops are yet to be afforded any kind of reasonable summer vacation.

With the new La Liga campaign due to be kicked into gear in a little over a month’s time, Los Blancos, in turn, have on Monday felt it necessary to action.

As per a report from Carrusel Deportivo:

‘Real Madrid have requested this morning by letter to LaLiga the postponement of the first matchday of the championship.

‘They explain in the letter that after talking with Osasuna and the RFEF, all parties have agreed to schedule the match for October 29.’

It now remains to be seen if La Liga share such a viewpoint.
