Real Madrid rule out move for midfield star this summer

Artikelbild:Real Madrid rule out move for midfield star this summer

Real Madrid are still expected to forge ahead with more transfer business this summer, despite having already made four signings. Los Blancos are believed to be looking for another centre-back and a central midfielder too, but one of their long-term targets looks unlikely to be making the move this summer.

It is believed that Real Madrid want a midfielder that can add more control in the middle, and for the past three years, Manchester City and Spain captain Rodri Hernandez has been linked to the club, albeit their interest was disrupted by his cruciate ligament injury. Over the past year, Real Madrid have been closely observing his recovery. Rodri appears to be keen to make a move back to Spain, and is yet to sign the new deal that City have put on the table for him, with just a year remaining on his deal, accompanied by mixed reports on Real Madrid’s willingness to make a decisive move for him.

Real Madrid rule out move for Rodri this summer

According to Fabrizio Romano, via Sport, Real Madrid do not plan on making a move for Rodri this summer. The 29-year-old has failed to fully convince President Florentino Perez that he should make a move for him, given his age and recent injury history. If he does not sign a new deal with City, and becomes a free agent next summer, the Real Madrid door may reopen, but as things stand, there is no move in the works for this year.

Who will Real Madrid move for in midfield?

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has been heavily linked to the Bernabéu, and has made little secret of his desire to move to Real Madrid, but it remains to be seen whether Perez would sanction an outlay in excess of €100m for him. West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes has also been cited as a player that Jose Mourinho is keen on. Vitinha and Joao Neves have also been mentioned as targets, but neither look feasible, with Paris Saint-Germain unwilling to sell.
