The Yan Diomande transfer saga has created unnecessary chatter in the transfer market, even leading to a direct spat between prominent journalists Florian Plettenberg and Fabrizio Romano.

The drama only dragged in recent days, with Real Madrid failing to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig, even as Diomande stands ready to move to Santiago Bernabeu.

But after days of impasse, Real Madrid appear to have finally reached a breakthrough in the deal to sign Diomande.

According to a recent update by Plettenberg, Real Madrid are now closer than ever to reaching an agreement with RB Leipzig over Diomande.

This suggests the two parties are finally reach to break the impasse. This is not surprising considering the fact that there are only four weeks remaining before the transfer market comes to a close.

It must be noted that Leipzig must also find a replacement for Diomande and cannot effort for the saga to continue indefinitely.

The development comes after a fresh round of negotiations between the two parties today.

Keeping that mind, Plettenberg adds that Real Madrid are hoping to complete the deal by the end of the week.

Should Real Madrid close the signing of Diomande this summer, one would expect the club to move on to the Rodri signing.

Acquiring a new midfielder, after all, is one of Jose Mourinho’s key demands and that is where Rodri has emerged as the prime target.

The Spanish international is ready to leave Manchester City and although Barcelona are also interested, he is keen on a move to Real Madrid so that he can return to his hometown.

Rodri is expected to cost around €75 million, meaning Real Madrid are on track for a proper spending spree this summer, having already roped in the likes of Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, Carlos Espi, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate.
