The future of Ibrahima Konate remains a hot topic at both Real Madrid and Liverpool circles.
While Liverpool are keen on tying the centre-back to a long-term deal, Real Madrid are seemingly keen on securing his services on a free transfer next summer.
Spanish media has extensively claimed that the Frenchman is all set to join Los Blancos on a Bosman deal when his contract expires in June 2026.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have a key lever in their pursuit of Konate: Their excellent relationship with the player’s agents.
This could prove to be critical, knowing Konate’s agents might play a key role in dictating the player’s future, especially knowing the fact that the Frenchman can earn a sizable transfer bonus next summer if he decides to play out his contract.

This has been a common trend among top players in Europe, who are looking to end their contracts and earn a sizable fee to join a new club.
It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool will make more attempts to renew the defender. As per Romano, the Premier League giants had attempted to renew the contract of the player in August.
However, a new deal at this time looks difficult for Romano, according to the Italian transfer expert. The Reds are, in fact, already looking for potential replacements for Konate, having recently been linked with a move for Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano.
This plays into the hands of Real Madrid, who are keen on signing Konate as a potential long-term replacement for the ageing defensive duo of Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba.
