Kylian Mbappe has faced a lot of criticism as he has been unable to lead Real Madrid to any major title during his two years at the Merengue club. His arrival was expected to make a team that had just won the La Liga-Champions League double even stronger, but unfortunately, that did not happen for various reasons. To make matters worse, his former team, Paris Saint-Germain ended up as UCL winners in both these seasons.
While critics have highlighted several of his shortcomings and actions, one area that remains beyond any doubt or criticism is his goalscoring ability. With his 58 goals for both club and country, he achieved a unique record that no player in history has been able to achieve before.
As MARCA has noted, Mbappe completed a hat-trick of Golden Boots during the last year. He retained the Pichichi title, which he had won in his very first season at Real Madrid, by remaining the top scorer in La Liga last season, with 25 goals.
Similarly, he was also the top scorer in the UCL, despite the Merengue team having been eliminated in the quarter-final stage, as he scored 15 goals, the third-best tally by an individual player in the history of the competition.
Lastly, he also won the World Cup 2026 Golden Boot with his 10 goals, and these 10 goals also made him the highest goalscorer in the history of the competition with 22 goals.
There is no doubt that this is an excellent record that very few players can even imagine reaching. However, trophies continue to elude Kylian Mbappe, as France was also eliminated from the World Cup in the semi-final. Hopefully, the next season will see him breaking this curse and winning the biggest titles, including La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid, under the new coach, Jose Mourinho.
