José Mourinho has barely got his feet under the desk in Madrid, and he is already facing a proper mutiny. A stunning report from Mundo Deportivo, relayed by @DeadlineDayLive on X, reveals the new boss wants a clean sweep. He has put Rodrygo Goes and Eduardo Camavinga on his provisional transfer list. Real Madrid chiefs will not stand in their way either, not after a second consecutive trophyless season. But the players are digging their heels in.
Rodrygo has completely rejected the idea of pack-and-go. The Brazilian winger wants to stay put in the Spanish capital. He is ready to fight tooth and nail to win back his spot. It is a massive headache for Mourinho’s planned squad cull.
Camavinga is cutting an equally stubborn figure. Inter Milan are sniffing around, with Giuseppe Marotta holding direct talks with Florentino Pérez over an €80 million deal for the 23-year-old midfielder. Camavinga had a dreadful time last season, even losing his spot in the France squad for the ongoing 2026 World Cup. Yet, he has no intention of making life easy for Mourinho. He wants redemption right where he is.

Mourinho inherits a massively bloated frontline. Keeping Rodrygo makes zero tactical sense when you look at the cold facts. Three goals. That is all the winger managed in 27 matches last term. With Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior locking down the starting berths, Rodrygo is a luxury Madrid cannot afford.
Mourinho needs to stop treating them as a package deal. Pocket the money for the underperforming Brazilian, absolutely. But Madrid must protect their French midfield asset at all costs.
