Real Madrid take ultimate stand against racism under Alvaro Arbeloa
Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa said his team would leave the pitch if Vinicius Junior is racially abused again.
Alvaro Arbeloa head coach of Real Madrid, has sent clear message against racism in football. He confirmed that his team would refuse to continue any match if Vinicius Junior is subjected to racist abuse again.
Arbeloa’s comments come after the recent Champions League match against Benfica where Vinicius claimed he was targeted with racist language by Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni.
The incident sparked strong reaction across the football world and renewed calls for tougher action.
Speaking at press conference ahead of the La Liga match against Osasuna on Saturday, Arbeloa explained his position clearly.
He said that if Vinicius had decided not to continue playing, the entire team would have left the field.
Arbeloa stressed that Vinicius chose to stay on the pitch by his own decision but made it clear that the club would fully support the player if such situation happens again.
The Real Madrid coach also praised his squad for how they handled the situation. Arbeloa said that no trophy or victory could make him prouder than the way his players reacted during the match.
He highlighted their unity, calm response and commitment to continuing together as a team despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the incident.
