With planning for the next season underway, Real Madrid intend to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window.

With Toni Kroos’ absence still being felt, Luka Modric’s future uncertain and Eduardo Camavinga failing to step up this season, Los Blancos have decided strengthen their options in the centre of the park.

As reported recently, one of the players on Real Madrid’s radar for the position happens to be Newcastle United and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The 24-year-old has been one of the Magpies’ best players this season, impressing with his energy, intensity, and vision.

Tonali wants to stay at Newcastle United

However, as per The Telegraph in England, Tonali has no intentions of leaving Newcastle United in the summer and wishes to stay at St. James’ Park long term.

The Italian international is grateful to the Premier League outfit for having faith in him and trusting him during a difficult period when he was banned for ten months for breaking gambling regulations.

As such, Tonali is keen on repaying the faith shown by staying put at Newcastle United for many years.

Despite having suitors from across Europe, with clubs such as Juventus and Manchester City also being keen apart from Real Madrid, the midfielder intends to continue at Newcastle.

The Magpies, for their part, also have no intentions of losing one of their best players who has formed an excellent partnership in midfield with Bruno Guimaraes.

Even though he has had some issues, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe always believed in the player’s talents and that is paying dividends now, with Tonali playing a key role in the Magpies’ Carabao Cup win this season.

So, as things stand, it appears unlikely that Real Madrid or any other club will be able to prize Tonali away from Newcastle in the summer.
