Real Madrid are intensifying their plans and, according to Marca, have set a ceiling of around 220 million to land Michael Olise from Bayern Munich, a fee near Neymar’s 2017 record of 222 million that would make him the second-most expensive signing.
The push comes after the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté, with Denzel Dumfries still awaiting official confirmation.
During the recent election campaign, Florentino Pérez told Iker Jiménez’s programme Horizonte that Madrid would table a record bid of at least 150 million for a Champions League star, and days later the club said in a statement it had offered 150 million to Atlético Madrid for Julián Álvarez. Atlético immediately rejected it and referred Madrid to the striker’s release clause of about 500 million.
Names such as Vitinha, João Neves and Julián Álvarez have been linked, but the Álvarez move has been cast as a manoeuvre towards the priority target, Olise.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer pushed back, stressing that Olise is their player on a long-term deal, Bayern are not a selling club and no offer from Pérez has arrived.
Sky Sports Alemania suggests an offer above 200 million could prompt Bayern to revisit their stance.
Olise recently wiped his Instagram posts, though his social media history shows he has done similar before, including in 2023 at Crystal Palace around a contract renewal. With financial headroom after his re-election, Pérez appears ready to go hard for his marquee target, while Bayern remain firm for now.
