Real Madrid have made no formal approach for José Mourinho, though president Florentino Pérez is seriously weighing a move to bring him back, according to Sky Sports.

No decision has been taken and the situation remains under internal review, with no official steps towards negotiations at this stage.

On Mourinho’s side, there is no rush. He is under contract with Benfica until 2027, and a clause allows him to terminate the deal in the days immediately after the season, keeping options open.

The Portuguese coach has addressed the present only, saying his next target is to guide Benfica into the Champions League, and he has avoided a direct response to interest from Spain, stressing focus on the run-in.

Even so, Mourinho’s name is still under active discussion in Madrid as the club navigates instability and plans summer changes, a scenario that could have ramifications at the Luz if interest eventually turns into action.
