The year 2025 has been a rather underwhelming one for Real Madrid considering the high standards they have set for themselves.
The Merengues end the calendar year without winning a single major trophy, having struggled to reach the level expected of them be it under Carlo Ancelotti in the first half of 2025 or now under Xabi Alonso.
There have been concerns growing about the performances of some of the team’s most key players, with fans also letting it know in recent games – whistling at underperforming stars such as Vinicius Jr.
As such, journalist Carlos Carpio of MARCA (h/t The Madrid Zone), Real Madrid are now open to the idea of selling some of the ‘important’ players in the squad if good offers arrive in the summer.
Indeed, as per the report, Los Blancos are unhappy and very disappointed with the level shown by some stars of late.
As such, they are no longer ruling out the exits of players in case good offers arrive in the summer.
All eyes will immediately turn to Vinicius, given that he has massively underperformed this year and his contract situation also remains unresolved.

Talks to renew his deal beyond 2027 have been at standstill for some time now, and as mentioned previously, the Brazilian forward has been drawing jeers and boos from the Santiago Bernabeu faithful.
In case an agreement over a new deal is not reached, Real Madrid could open the doors for a summer departure even though their intention is to keep hold of Vinicius.
Rodrygo, despite his recent positive form, was poor for almost the entirety of 2025, and could be playing for his future in the second half of the season.
Dani Ceballos is another player who could be on the move, having failed to rise up to the challenge of filling the gap left by Toni Kroos and Luka Modric’s departure.
The likes of David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, on expiring contracts and struggling with fitness, are already expected to depart as free agents.
A lot could also depend on who the manager when the summer window rolls in, with Xabi Alonso’s future far from certain.
