Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Getafe on Sunday night in La Liga, away at Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
A late goal from Kylian Mbappe ensured the victory for the Merengues, ensuring that they go into the weekend’s El Clasico as league leaders, with a two-point lead over Barcelona.
However, the victory came at some cost for Los Blancos as they saw veteran defender David Alaba get hooked off at half-time due to physical problems.
According to journalist Javi Herraez on Carrusel Deportivo, Alaba is suffering from a calf strain and will undergo tests today at the Real Madrid facilities.
The veteran Austrian defender started at the heart of the defence on Sunday night, alongside Eder Militao, in what was a rare appearance for him this season.

However, Alaba was withdrawn at half-time by manager Xabi Alonso, with Raul Asencio taking his place at the heart of the defence.
Prior to his substitution, the former Bayern Munich defender had been doing well, even coming close to scoring a goal via a free-kick just before the half-time whistle.
However, he did not return to the pitch after the break and is understood to be suffering from a calf strain, with tests scheduled for later today to determine the extent of the problem.
This comes as a blow for Alaba, who had only recently made his way back to full fitness after a myriad of physical problems over the past year and a half.
Hopefully, for the Austrian, the problem is not something serious and he is able to come back to action soon, especially with Real Madrid set to face Barcelona this weekend.
