Real Madrid have made it clear that they will not push David Alaba out of the club this summer, despite the Austrian defender being one of the highest earners and currently sitting low in the pecking order under Xabi Alonso.
According to Defensa Central, Alaba remains a part of the squad plans, even though he is effectively the fifth-choice centre-back behind Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and Raul Asencio.
Alaba is under contract until 2026, but his future has come into question recently. There were reports that Real Madrid’s sporting leadership offered him an option to terminate his contract early.
However, the Austrian is not entertaining that idea. He wants to stay at the club and fight to regain his best form.
Despite his hefty annual salary of more than €22 million, the club have decided not to pressure him. Real Madrid are not willing to go against their policy by forcing a player to leave.
Their stance is firm that if Alaba decides to stay, the club will respect his decision. If he wants to leave, they will not stop him, but they will not initiate any move to remove him.

Even intermediaries from Arab football, who reached out to the club, were given the same response.
The only scenario that could potentially change things is if the club manage to sign Ibrahima Konate in this transfer window.
Xabi Alonso is keen on bringing in the Frenchman to bolster the backline, and the arrival of Konate would make the competition for places even tighter.
If that happens, Real Madrid believe that Alaba might himself decide to seek a new challenge elsewhere, given the reduced likelihood of regular minutes.
This situation also ties into Alaba’s own long-term goals. With the FIFA World Cup scheduled for the summer of 2026, Alaba would want to arrive in top form, and that means he cannot afford to sit on the bench for an entire season.
For now, though, his intention is to remain and work hard to win back a spot in the starting XI.
