Real Madrid surprised everyone Tuesday by not only confirming that they have tabled an €150 million bid for Julian Alvarez but also adding that their bid was rejected by Atletico Madrid.
Atleti hit back almost immediately, stating that they never thanked Real Madrid for the offer, before going on to through a few personal jabs.
In the aftermath of this event, the Julian Alvarez saga could be set for a prolonged pause, at least from Real Madrid’s end.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the saga may now be entering a prolonged pause from Real Madrid’s side.
Romano has confirmed that Real Madrid are not expected to return with an improved bid any time soon.
The primary reason is the extremely hostile reaction from Atletico following the initial approach.
With the atmosphere between the two clubs having soured so publicly and so dramatically, any immediate follow-up from Real Madrid would be difficult.

Real Madrid’s €150 million offer was a club record, the highest they have ever submitted for a single player.
Atletico rejected it without hesitation, pointing to Alvarez’s release clause of €550 million as their position, making any negotiated deal virtually impossible at this stage.
With Real Madrid stepping back, Barcelona remain in the picture as Alvarez’s preferred destination. The player, for his part, remains keen on playing for the Blaugrana and it is evident that he wants to leave Atletico Madrid as well.
The Catalans, however, cannot come close to matching the figures being discussed, leaving the Argentine’s future unresolved as the summer window rolls on.
