Arda Guler was one of the star performers as Real Madrid secured their first competitive win under Xabi Alonso by defeating Pachuca.
The Turkish international notably scored a goal to help Real Madrid secure a 3-1 win over the Mexican outfit.
After starting ahead of Rodrygo, Guler repaid Xabi Alonso’s faith with a powerful performance in the final third. And that performance, it seems, could be rewarded with yet another start.
According to AS, Guler is all set to retain his place in the starting eleven when Real Madrid take on RB Salzburg in the next game.
The Spanish giants are slated to take on the Austrian giants on Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
In the wake of his excellent performance against Pachuca, Xabi Alonso is likely to give the youngster the nod ahead of Rodrygo once again.

As mentioned earlier, Guler showcased his mettle against Pachuca in the last game. He operated with total freedom particularly in wider positions but is not afraid to tuck inside if required.
This is an essential element to his game and a reason why Real Madrid did not feel like renewing the contract of Luka Modric for another season.
For Guler, another performance against Salzburg could go a long way in solidifying his role in the starting eleven for the rest of the tournament.
Despite his top performances, however, Guler has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, with at least three clubs interested in taking him on loan.
But if the Turk manages to emerge as one of the best players for Real Madrid in the competition, there is a bright chance he may enjoy a more prominent role in Alonso’s plans for next season.
