Luka Modric played a key role in Real Madrid’s victory against Girona, scoring a stunning goal that showcased his technical brilliance.
The Croatian midfielder expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, especially after their Champions League defeat to Manchester City. He believes the squad is in a strong phase and remains confident that they can continue improving as a unit.
For Modric, securing this win was crucial. He acknowledged the challenge of maintaining a high level after an intense European clash but praised the team’s ability to stay focused and deliver another strong display.
“It’s a very important victory, we have to keep fighting. I think we played a very good game after the great night the other day.
“It’s not easy after so much effort to once again focus on playing a good game like we did. We have to do it every day we play to keep growing as a team,” explained the veteran.

The recent performances have demonstrated that the team is in excellent form. Modric emphasised that they cannot afford to become complacent, as there is always room for improvement.
“The last few games have shown that we are in a very good moment. We have to keep going, we can’t give up and be satisfied with what we’ve done. We can still grow as a team.”
During the match, the Santiago Bernabeu faithful showed their appreciation for Modric, giving him a standing ovation when he was substituted.
The experienced midfielder expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support he continues to receive from the fans.
“I am very grateful and proud of the affection that Real Madrid fans show me every day. They did it again today and I thank them,” he admitted.

His goal against Girona was nothing short of spectacular. Striking the ball with precision from outside the box, he sent it soaring into the top corner.
While he is unsure if it ranks among the best goals he has scored for Real Madrid, he considers it a memorable moment. Scoring at the Bernabeu, in front of the home crowd, added an extra layer of significance to the occasion.
“You have to shoot. I was alone, I controlled the ball, I hit it well and it went in. I don’t know if it’s one of the best goals, it’s nice and special to have scored at home, at the Bernabeu, in front of the fans,” he added.
Modric’s influence on the pitch remains undeniable. His leadership, vision, and technical ability continue to be vital for Real Madrid as they push forward in their pursuit of success.
