According to a recent report by Alejandro Alcazar in SPORT, Vito Reis, a defender from Palmeiras, is currently the top target for Real Madrid’s talent scout, Juni Calafat.

It is no secret that Real Madrid are keenly interested in strengthening their central defence, and Reis has emerged as a prime candidate for this role.

At just 18 years old, the youngster has already secured a regular spot in Palmeiras’ starting XI, showcasing both his skill and strong character. His performance has caught the eye of many, and he is seen as a key figure for the future.

Reis belongs to the 2006 generation, alongside notable talents like Endrick and Estevao, and he shares their ambition of making a significant impact in European football.

“My desire is always to play in Europe, but my mind is 100% on Palmeiras; I don’t think about anything else,” he said when discussing his future prospects.

A good option for Real Madrid

Reis has already impressed in various youth categories for the Brazilian national team before reaching this level. He is known for his tactical intelligence and versatility in defence.

Although he is right-footed, he is capable of playing as a centre-back on either side. His technical skills are impressive, particularly his passing accuracy, which is a hallmark of Brazilian defenders.

Standing at 1.86 metres tall, Reis is also strong in aerial duels, and his speed and power further enhance his defensive capabilities.

Problem in signing Reis

Interestingly, there is a significant hurdle in any potential transfer. Palmeiras have set an asking price of €100 million for the defender. This high valuation is a challenge given that, as of now, Reis’s market value would typically be much lower, possibly under €1 million.

His contract with Palmeiras runs until 2028, and while the club acknowledges that they might eventually need to sell him, they are not in a hurry. Real Madrid are monitoring the situation, but they are not alone; Premier League clubs are also keeping a close watch.

President Florentino Perez is known for his cautious approach, so Madrid will only proceed with a move if Reis shows a strong commitment to joining them.
