Real Sociedad will run a ballot for Copa del Rey final tickets after demand outstripped the club’s allocation, with registration closing today at 20.00. The match is at La Cartuja on 18 April.

According to Diario Vasco, Wednesday’s confirmation that the RFEF app lets a successful member enter a non-member’s name when buying a ticket fuelled late interest. By Wednesday afternoon 22,422 had applied, rising to 26,130 a day later, up 3,708 on the previous day and 3,036 on Tuesday to Wednesday. The total is climbing but has not topped 30,000.

The club sought nominal tickets so only members would enter, asking for mandatory name and ID on the federation app. In a Tuesday morning meeting with Atlético de Madrid and the RFEF, the federation could not verify matches with club forms and enabling such checks would take more than a month. The club then briefed members.

The ballot is expected before Thursday, a public holiday, so results are most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. A registration number, not a membership number, will be drawn, then counted forward until the cap is reached. Odds have fallen as some members registered to pass tickets to relatives and friends.

Roughly 22,100 tickets are assigned to members, from which the +25 members already guaranteed must be deducted. As of Thursday there were 6,199 in that category, up 987 on the previous day and 530 from Tuesday to Wednesday. The draw will be conducted before a notary.
