Daniel Farke was sent off after full-time of Leeds United’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. According to Leeds Live, assistant Eddie Riemer said City’s timewasting triggered the manager’s anger. The dismissal carries a touchline ban.

After shaking Pep Guardiola’s hand at the whistle, Farke ran towards referee Peter Bankes in the centre circle and argued, and was quickly shown a red card.

Under FA rules he could not fulfil post-match media duties, so Riemer spoke. He said he had spoken briefly to Farke and thought the six minutes added time felt insufficient when chasing the game. With City cautioned for timewasting, he felt a few more seconds could have been added.

Riemer added that just after the six minutes Leeds had the ball for one final delivery but were not allowed to take it. He said Farke stepped onto the pitch to ask why.

On the sanction, Riemer suggested the explanation would be that Farke was over-emotional by entering the field of play. He was disappointed by the decision and said a yellow would have been more sensible in an emotional sport.

Riemer is expected to lead the dugout at Elland Road against Sunderland on Tuesday. Farke previously served a touchline ban last February after receiving his third yellow during the 2-1 Championship comeback over the Black Cats.
