La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AIA chiefs deemed Marco Guida’s decision not to award Juventus a penalty against Lazio on Sunday to be correct.

The incident saw Lazio defender Mario Gila slide in on Juventus’ Juan Cabal inside the area. Guida did not point to the spot and was not sent to the pitchside monitor.

Referee chiefs are said to have reached that view because they felt the defender tried to pull out of the challenge.

Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti complained at full-time, arguing his side had been denied a clear penalty.

DAZN pundit Luca Marelli shared that stance, claiming Lazio should have been punished due to Gila’s negligent tackle.

Juventus are fourth in Serie A, level on 46 points with 5th-placed Roma.
