Régis Le Bris says he is encouraged by Enzo Le Fée's early pre-season scoring and believes an added goal threat could raise his impact for Sunderland in 2026/27, Sunderland Echo reports.

Le Fée opened the summer with a brace at York City, then struck from long range against Liverpool in a 4-2 defeat over the weekend.

It extends an encouraging run for the 26-year-old, who posed a greater open-play goal threat after returning to his preferred central role late last season. "In this central corridor, he's brilliant," Le Bris said.

"He can connect with the other midfielders with mobility, freedom. The connection with the centre backs and others is improving as well. He's a creative player and if after that he can become even more decisive [in front of goal], he's going to be even more impactful in games."

After an open training session for supporters on Sunday, the US tour now moves to New Jersey where Sunderland face Leeds United. The squad will be bolstered by the returns of Noah Sadiki, Habib Diarra, Robin Roefs, Brian Brobbey, Arthur Masuaku and Simon Adingra following their World Cup commitments.

"It's going to be positive," Le Bris said. "The first group worked really well and for the players who will join now, they will feel the core of the squad is ready. They have to connect with us now, this World Cup experience will be huge and useful for their future.”
