Sunderland host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday as Régis Le Bris weighs up significant selection calls with the injury list easing.
Unai Emery’s side arrive on a high after reaching the last four of the Europa League with a midweek win over Bologna, and they sit fourth in the Champions League. According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are growing in confidence after back-to-back wins with key players returning.
Here is how Le Bris’s starting XI and bench might shape up.
Goalkeeper Robin Roefs made a strong return to the side last weekend and there is little doubt he keeps his place.
At right back, Nordi Mukiele was restored last week and, though his goal took a deflection, his all-round display underpinned the victory. He looks one of the first names on the teamsheet and has made the role his own.
In central defence, with Dan Ballard back available, Luke O’Nien’s form means there is no need to rush any change. Le Bris hinted in his pre-match briefing that he will keep faith with the club stalwart for now.
Omar Alderete has been outstanding in recent weeks and remains integral to the side in and out of possession.
