Rego commits to Athletic until 2030 and wants much more with this badge | OneFootball

As reported by as.com, Alejandro Rego has committed to Athletic until June 2030 after a debut campaign of 41 appearances, including eight in the Champions League. He spoke of dreams made real, from arriving at Lezama to scoring at San Mamés and playing in Europe, and said he wants much more with the badge.

The Bilbao-born holding midfielder was the only outfield player in the squad to feature in every Champions League match. Athletic could also have triggered a unilateral two-year extension.

Rego joined Lezama at cadet age after spells with SD Indautxu and Santutxu. His rise accelerated two seasons ago with Bilbao Athletic alongside Gerenabarrena in a double pivot, prompting last summer’s promotion under Ernesto Valverde.

He made his league debut in the closing minutes of the opening fixture against Sevilla at San Mamés. A serious injury to Beñat Prados then gave him extended time in midfield.

Rego presents the new deal as a platform to keep pushing on, stressing he is not content to settle and is aiming for more with Athletic.
