Reinaldo Teixeira insisted the centralisation of Portugal’s audio-visual rights remains on schedule and that dialogue with Benfica continues despite the club quitting Liga Centralização.
According to Glorioso 1904, the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional president said the process has moved forward, with ongoing cooperation with all clubs and efficient interaction with the Autoridade da Concorrência, speaking on the sidelines of the ‘ion’ conference in Cascais.
Benfica, which is dealing with a structural issue at Estádio da Luz, suspended its place in Liga Centralização, the company set to implement the model from 2028/29, yet has remained part of the negotiations, he said.
Teixeira added that although Benfica stepped away from the company, information sharing and coordination with the club have been maintained, as with other sporting companies.
He argued Benfica’s absence never threatened the project, pointing to cordial exchanges since, and said the club has been kept informed and has even cooperated on resolutions.
Teixeira said the LPFP is working with all sporting companies and is convinced the centralisation will be honoured and fulfilled. He promised the revenue distribution key being developed will be presented soon.
