Real Sociedad goalkeeper Álex Remiro broke his silence at Barcelona El Prat after missing out on the World Cup, saying he was sad to miss it but that Spain’s goalkeeping level is very high. He added he is heading on holiday and will not close any doors regarding his future.

According to Diario Vasco, he spoke briefly to reporters, and about 10 minutes later Barcelona sporting director Deco and assistant Bojan Krkic emerged from the same exit, intensifying speculation.

Remiro said he felt fine, had spoken with Luis de la Fuente and trusts him. He accepted the selections of Unai Simón, David Raya and Joan García, and described De la Fuente as affectionate.

Barcelona’s interest is longstanding, with a move considered only if they can shift Ter Stegen and Szczesny and avoid a high fee. They are also open to him running down his contract to 30 June 2027 and arriving for free. The club have sounded out his camp but have not made an offer.

Real Sociedad are relaxed about the position and will focus first on other areas. They have Remiro and Marrero, who has impressed when called upon. A major offer would be studied, and a free exit in 2027 or a renewal remain possible.
